What is Marula Oil and why is this oil growing to be the next supper oil?

The Marula tree is found in parts of southern Africa, Mozambique and Madagascar, therefore the Marula seed Oil (Sclerocarya Birrea) in our products comes directly from the natural geographic source. The Marula tree produces plum-like fruits, which contain four times as much vitamin C as oranges. Oil is extracted from kernels (nuts) by hand by local women. Marula oil has been traditionally used by the Ovambo women in northern Namibia for generations because of its skin-smoothing and moisturizing properties. This is because of its essential fatty acids, which help to maintain the skin’s moisture barrier.

Marula oils can be used from head to toe, on skin, hair and nails. It is suitable for all skin types. Because of its countless unique characteristics, Marula oil easily absorbs into the skin quickly, thanks to its high oleic acid content – around 80 per cent of the kernel is made up of this acid, which is an omega 9 fatty acid. Oleic acid’s ability to penetrate skin deeply means it provides long-lasting hydration.
Marula oil contains 16% more antioxidants then Argan Oil. Its effectiveness as a skin moisturizer and protector is due to its fine molecular structure, allowing it to penetrate deeply into the skin to nourish and repair. This pure oil is acquired through natural processes, without the use of chemical extraction.
